About Garden Preview

Why it's worth the trip

Garden Preview is the Benelux trade fair for outdoor living, organised by DOFAS, the Dutch Outdoor Furnishing Association — the industry body for manufacturers, wholesalers, importers and agents working in garden furniture, outdoor textiles, parasols, patio heaters, fire pits and barbecues. It is held on the first Monday and Tuesday of September each year at Evenementenhal Gorinchem, and the 2026 edition runs 7-8 September. The timing is the point. Garden Preview is deliberately placed at the start of September so that Dutch and Belgian garden centres, outdoor-living specialists and hospitality buyers can see the following season's collections and place orders before the autumn buying cycle closes. Product coverage runs across garden furniture, garden textiles and covers, parasols and shade systems, barbecues and outdoor kitchens, terrace heating, pergolas, storage and garden sheds, pottery and planters, mood lighting, hot tubs, outdoor showers and saunas, and garden accessories. It is a compact, relationship-driven show rather than a mega-fair. The exhibitor list published on the official site in early August 2026 ran to around 45 companies, including established Benelux and European outdoor-furniture names such as 4 Seasons Outdoor, Apple Bee, Hartman, Kettler, Garden Impressions, SenS-Line, YOI, Siena Garden, Platinum Outdoorable and Higold Outdoor, alongside barbecue and outdoor-cooking brands including Big Green Egg, Napoleon, Char-Broil, Pit Boss and BonFeu. Design and Innovation awards are judged during the fair, guided tours are available to visitors, and there is a networking drinks reception on the Monday evening.

A Small Fair That Sets the Benelux Outdoor Season

The Netherlands and Belgium punch far above their size in outdoor furniture: a dense network of large garden centres, a strong importer and agent culture, and consumers who spend heavily on terrace furniture. Because Garden Preview is run by the trade association rather than a commercial organiser, the exhibitor list is close to a map of who actually supplies that channel. For a manufacturer trying to reach Benelux buyers — or a buyer trying to find European partners for outdoor collections — two days here is worth more than a week wandering a larger show.

Venue Information

Evenementenhal Gorinchem
📍 Franklinweg 2, 4207 HZ Gorinchem, Netherlands
Evenementenhal Gorinchem is a straightforward single-site exhibition hall on an industrial estate on the edge of Gorinchem, close to the A15 and A27 motorways with free on-site parking. It is not a Messe-scale complex — you can cover the whole show in a day and see everything properly in two, which is much of its appeal. Gorinchem's own railway station is on the MerwedeLingelijn between Dordrecht and Geldermalsen; from the station it is a short taxi or bus ride to the venue rather than a walk. Most Dutch and Belgian visitors drive.

Getting there

Closest International Airport

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

IATA: AMS — 75 km from the venue
Distance
~75 km

Schiphol is the practical international gateway, roughly 75 km north of Gorinchem and about an hour by car. Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM) is closer at around 45 km but has far fewer routes. By rail, take an intercity from Schiphol to Dordrecht and change to the MerwedeLingelijn local service to Gorinchem; allow around two hours door to door. Given the venue sits on an industrial estate with free parking, a hire car is the easier option for most international visitors, and it also makes combining the fair with supplier visits elsewhere in the Netherlands or Belgium straightforward.

Hire car via A15/A27
~60 min from Schiphol
Free parking at the venue — the standard choice
Train via Dordrecht
~2 hrs from Schiphol
Around €20-25; short taxi or bus from Gorinchem station
Taxi / rideshare from Rotterdam
~45 min
Rotterdam is the nearest large city with a full hotel range

In the city

Local Guide: Gorinchem

Gorinchem

Gorinchem is a small fortified town of about 37,000 people where the Linge meets the Merwede, roughly halfway between Rotterdam and 's-Hertogenbosch. It is genuinely attractive — intact 16th-century ramparts you can walk in an hour, a small harbour, and a compact old centre of brick townhouses and cafés. It is not, however, a business-travel city: the hotel supply is thin and fills for the fair. Most international visitors base themselves in Rotterdam, Utrecht or 's-Hertogenbosch and drive in, all of which are 45-60 minutes away. September weather is mild and changeable, around 18-20°C with a fair chance of rain.

What to eat

Bitterballen
The default Dutch bar snack — crumbed, deep-fried balls of beef ragout served with mustard. They will appear at the Monday-evening networking drinks, and they are the correct thing to eat with a beer.
Broodje haring
Raw herring with chopped onion and pickle, either in a soft roll or held by the tail. Gorinchem is a river-and-harbour town and takes it seriously. September is comfortably within the season.
Kibbeling
Battered, deep-fried cod chunks with garlic or remoulade sauce, sold from fish stalls in the town centre. The most reliable quick lunch in any Dutch market town.
Stroopwafel
Two thin waffle layers with caramel syrup between them, best bought warm off the iron at a market stall rather than in a supermarket packet.
Terrace lunch on the Grote Markt
Gorinchem's old centre has a run of cafés around the Grote Markt and along the harbour. If the weather holds, this is the pleasant version of a fair lunch break — 10 minutes' drive from the hall.

Tips for first-time visitors

🎫
Trade-only — register free in advance
Garden Preview is a professional trade fair. Visitor registration is handled on the official site and is free; bring proof of trade status if your company is not already known to the organiser.
📅
Monday and Tuesday, not a weekend show
The fair always falls on the first Monday and Tuesday of September. Plan flights accordingly — a Sunday arrival and Tuesday-evening departure covers it comfortably.
🚗
Drive if you can
The venue is on an industrial estate off the A15/A27 with free parking, and public transport requires a change at Dordrecht plus a local hop. A hire car also makes supplier visits around the fair much easier.
🏨
Book a hotel in Rotterdam or Utrecht
Gorinchem itself has very few hotel rooms and they go early. Rotterdam, Utrecht and 's-Hertogenbosch are all under an hour by car and have far more choice.
🍻
Stay for the Monday networking drinks
The organiser runs a free borrel after the show on the Monday. In a fair this size that is where the actual relationship-building happens — book your flights so you are not rushing off.
🗣️
English is fine, but the fair runs in Dutch
The official site defaults to Dutch with English, French and German versions available. Nearly everyone on the floor speaks good English, but signage and printed material may be Dutch-first.
