Outdoor & garden furniture fairs

15 trade fairs worth an outdoor-furniture buyer’s time — who each one is for, when it runs, and how the season’s buying cycle shapes which window you should travel in.

Outdoor furniture runs on a harder seasonal clock than any other furniture category. Retail sells March to August; production and shipping from Asia take months; so the trade calendar works backwards from spring. European retailers typically preview and commit to next season’s ranges in the late-June-to-September shows, while buyers who source directly from manufacturers use the Asian fairs — where most of the world’s outdoor wood and metal furniture is actually made — to lock factory capacity earlier still.

That is why this guide is grouped by what each fair is for, not by prestige. A garden-centre buyer writing orders for next spring needs Solex or Glee, not a factory hall in Ho Chi Minh City; an importer building a container program needs exactly the opposite. Each fair below links to a full page with venue, airport and planning details.

Dedicated outdoor-living trade shows in Europe

These are the shows where European garden retailers, garden centres and hospitality buyers preview and order the coming season’s outdoor ranges. They cluster between late June and September — order-writing season for the following spring. One calendar change worth knowing: spoga+gafa in Cologne moves from its traditional June slot to September from 2027 (7–9 September), per the organizer, putting it in the same late-summer window as the UK shows.

Asian sourcing fairs with strong outdoor sections

If you manufacture-source rather than buy wholesale, these are the fairs where outdoor furniture makers exhibit directly — Vietnam and China dominate outdoor wood and metal production. The spring window (late February to March: VIFA EXPO, MIFF, CIFF Guangzhou) suits buyers locking factory capacity for the following year; the September window (VIFA ASEAN, CIFF Shanghai) works for buyers who need to see product before finalizing spring ranges.

Market weeks and regional fairs with outdoor halls

Not outdoor-specific, but each carries a substantial outdoor or casual-furniture section and matters if you already buy in that market: the two big US market weeks, Australia’s main furniture trade event, and southern Brazil’s long-running furniture fair.

Green-sector fairs with outdoor-furnishing sections

Primarily horticulture and landscaping shows, listed here because both carry outdoor-furnishing and garden-décor sections and draw the garden-centre buyers who also stock furniture. Relevant if garden retail is your channel; skippable if you only source furniture.

What to check before you order

Outdoor furniture fails in ways showroom furniture never does — UV, rain, and freeze-thaw cycles expose weak timber, poor joinery and thin powder-coating within a season. At any of the fairs above, it is worth asking exhibitors the same short list of questions: which species or alloy is used and where it is sourced; how the timber is dried and finished for outdoor exposure; what hardware (stainless grade, fittings) is standard; and what the packaging spec looks like, since outdoor sets travel knocked-down and packaging failures show up as warranty claims.

For wooden outdoor furniture, certification matters commercially as well as environmentally: many European and North American retailers now require FSC chain-of-custody documentation on hardwoods such as acacia, eucalyptus and teak. If sustainability claims are part of your retail story, ask for the certificate code at the stand and verify it — certified suppliers will expect the question.
